Why would someone prefer to buy a wireless cctv system? Perhaps the reason why they are preferred is because of their ease of use and simple installation. There is very little actual wiring needed. The beauty of these cameras is that you do not have ugly wires sticking out so you increase the chances of being undetectable.
Another reason why these systems are liked so much is because often with a wireless cctv system, you only need a camera and a receiver unit and you are in business. Most systems are a really easy plug-n-go type where the receiver would just plug into your computer and it can start receiving signals from your camera. You can monitor more ground by simply adding more cameras.
The most popular wireless CCTV system is the micro dome or also called mini dome. The outer dome protects the camera from being tampered with but it also prevents it from dust and damage from the outside elements.
The dome models are typically made with a Sony 1/3” format Super HAD CDD sensor.
These perform very well. The image performance is super clear with decent resolution. The resolution depends on the model but most models offer anywhere from 480-560 resolution.
Some models are better suited to be an outside model even though the majority of dome models are designed for both inside and outside use.
Many models offer custom settings for white balance control and settings which control the shutter speed.
Even though wireless cctv systems are the easiest to install and operate the may not be as good as hard wired systems. Another downside to going wireless is that the battery life is consumed much quicker so you will need to replace the batteries often to keep your system at full performance.
